Rusty Urban Dumpster, Parking Meter, and Rustic Phone Booth — Material & Texturing Study
This series focuses on detailed material and texture exploration using Substance Painter. Each asset was selected to challenge my understanding of surface variation, weathering, and storytelling through materials.
- Rusty Urban Dumpster: Developed layered rust, chipped paint, and grime accumulation to capture an authentic urban decay look. Emphasis was placed on edge wear, dirt cavities, and realistic roughness variation.
- Parking Meter: Focused on blending metallic wear, faded decals, and subtle oxidation to convey years of outdoor exposure. Special attention was given to microdetails like scratches, dust buildup, and reflective behavior.
- Rustic Phone Booth: Crafted a multi-material study combining aged metal, graffiti, and weathered metal. Integrated grunge maps and hand-painted details to enhance realism and break up material uniformity.
This project allowed me to push my proficiency in PBR workflow, smart masks, custom alphas, and layered texture techniques, elevating both artistic quality and technical precision.
