Design Home Pet Initiative

The asset type "pet" in the game Design Home was an idea I pitched during a studio hackathon in 2021. This concept was greenlit for prototyping by the Studio General Manager. As the idea owner, I led a team that included artists, engineers, a UI/UX designer, and a product manager. During the three-day hackathon, we prototyped the new feature, from UI/UX design to a playable prototype with possible series ideas. Our prototype received a 5 out of 5 in the executive review and overwhelmingly positive feedback, leading it to be included in the production roadmap.

In April 2023, "pet" was officially launched as part of the Design Home game assets. In the May 2023 business review, pet decor received positive player feedback. The installation rate increased by 10% over several months. For FY24, pet decor ranked among the top purchased assets in each series, driving millions in additional revenue.

I am responsible for creating the workflow for in-game pet assets in Design Home, mentoring the team's artists for pet production, writing documentation, and serving as the point of contact for collaborating with the Sims team on pet decor.
